Each surf ski race begins on the water's edge with the paddlers heading out to sea, through the break, around three orange buoys and then back to the water's edge while trying to use the surf on the way back to the beach as this race distance varies from about 700 to 750 metres, 765 to 820 yards, depending on the prevailing conditions.
Single surfski's are a sleek and very fast paddle craft that have been specially designed to handle the rugged and often powerful surf. A single ski is made of fibreglass / epoxy and is around 5.8 metres (18'-19')long and around 18 kilograms (38lbs) in weight.
Both of WaveMaster racing ski's, the Series I and our newest design the WaveMaster Classic have been S.L.S.A. approved and are available in four seating sizes: S/M/L/XL.
WaveMaster racing ski's also feature a storage compartment and adjustable footstraps.

The Board Race (also known and referred to as the racing Mal) involves paddling a racing Mal, 3.2 metres in length, from the beach and out through the break, around a set of three black and white buoys, and then back to the water's edge. Depending on the conditions, the race length can vary from 650 to over 700 metres. (710 to 765 yards).
A WaveMaster Racing Mal features our unique and very durable vacuum bagging wood veneer system. The Mal is very light has an adjustable center fin. The board comes with front and rear handles, as well as knee pads. Our boards are considered to be amoung the lightest and most durable Racing Mal's availalble. The Surf Board Race for the Juniors, aged 10 through 13 years, is conducted over a course similar to their Senior counterparts. The Juniors board is a lot smaller and lighter, weighing around 3 kilograms, approx 6 lbs. The board is referred and known to most as a "Nipper board". The race distance is approximately 300 metres, 330 yards.
A WaveMaster Nipper board is around 1.93 metres (6'3")in length and weighs around 3 kilograms, 6lbs. Our Nipper boards feature the WaveMaster wood veneer vacuum bagging system, adjustable center fin, and front and rear handles. Nipper boards are very bouyant and are a
fantastic way to introduce children to the water and waves, as they can be used for general paddling as well as surfing.
